Is the iPhone XS still worth buying in 2020?

The iPhone XS was released in 2017 while the iPhone X was released in 2018. While it is very similar in terms of aesthetics, the camera, battery life and chip speed are all noticeably improved. The XS currently supports iOS 14.4.1 and is not expected to be outdated or deprecated in the next few years, and as such it’s still a great value for those that want a device with an OLED display, no home button and a faster processor than the iPhone X.

Will Apple sell a refurbished iPhone XS?

If you’re looking for refurbished iPhone XS devices, the Apple Store doesn’t sell them and only stocks brand new, sealed iPhone XS units. There are refurbished units available in the U.S via online channels only but not in Canada. Third party vendors on marketplaces like Best Buy or eBay may offer these phones as refurbished but no one has better prices, transparency and overall device quality than Mobile Tech Lab. Does the iPhone XS have a good battery?

Most Apple users care deeply about battery size and duration, as it’s one of the metrics that has been improved with each annual iPhone release alongside with the camera. The iPhone XS has a 2716mAh battery which has improved from 2658mAh with the iPhone X which leads to an increase in talk time from 14 hours to 21 hours. For customers that are spending more for the iPhone XS and expecting more, the battery life is one area where Apple hasn’t cut corners.

Why was iPhone XS discontinued?

If you check the Apple site in Canada, you won’t see the iPhone XS listed, as it appears only to be available on the U.S side as a gently used or refurbished iPhone. There is no official release or reasoning why this is the case, but the theory is that Apple makes more profit on the iPhone X series of devices, or that there is a shortage and they want to ween it off the market. In either case, the iPhone XS is still available, with the best available warranty and most competitive prices at Mobile Tech Lab.
