Is Samsung A70 worth buying?
If you're not quite ready for the higher-end Samsung phones, the Galaxy A70 which was released in March 2019 is a great deal to fill the gap in cost between the higher-end Samsung devices and where certain consumers want an OLED phone to be. Almost 2 years past the release date, the A70 is still priced at less than the cost of a similar Samsung S10+ and shows no signs of being deprecated or becoming obsolete to Android software updates.
Is Samsung A70 waterproof?
Most of the previous Samsung devices like the S10, S9, and even the S8 were rated for IP-68 dust and water resistance - not waterproof though. However perhaps given the budget price point of the A Series devices, there is no declaration of this type of rating or waterproof ability on the official website. While you may end up being able to splash your phone or allow some condensation to build up on the screen, full submersion in water without an IP68 rating is likely going to end up with moisture entering the phone through the speaker or charge port and cause serious damage.
How much is a Samsung A70 worth?
As with most phones, resale price does drop over time so getting a certified preowned A70 handset at a great price is definitely possible. Currently, the price is hovering around $ 300 CAD, which is very affordable considering it's a full 6.7" Super AMOLED display with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. If the price point is an issue, cheaper phones like the Samsung A10s or A11 are available for less than $200, however, the compromise is made with speed, battery, and an IPS LCD display instead of an AMOLED.
Does the Samsung Galaxy A70 have a good camera?
Similar to the Samsung A50, the A70 features a triple rear camera with the main one allowing for a 32MP f/1.7 shot, the others at 8MP and 5MP for depth and focus. If you're upgrading from an earlier S Series like the S7 or S8, you'll notice a big difference. Furthermore, if you're moving up from a bare-bones A10 or A11 the difference will also be noticeable as the rear sensors and overall chipset have been improved. If low-light photos are a make or break, we'd recommend moving up a notch to the S10 or S10+ range for a very big difference. The A70 nighttime photos tend to be overexposed, especially compared to better options on the market.
How much is the A70 price in Canada?
The A70 is a higher-end A Series device that was released in 2019 at a price point that rivaled higher-end S Series devices like the S10. The plastic midframe left it feeling not as sturdy as other phones in its price range available, and consumers are used to paying top dollar for devices - just not A Series devices that are usually marketed as budget-friendly alternatives to the S Series.
The cost to replace the A70 screen and other hardware issues are significantly easier and cost-effective compared to the S9 or S10. Also given the fact that many people upgrade every year, the Samsung Galaxy A70 price in Canada has remained competitive and affordable for those that prefer the thinner, lighter construction, without sacrificing a Super AMOLED display and speed.
